Special Education – Life Skills Course Syllabus
Annual Goals: Students will demonstrate acceptable levels of mastery of their goals
and objectives as determined by their Individual Education Plans. Students will work
on the following goals:
Interpersonal Communication Skills
- Communicate effectively in various community settings (grocery store, mall, and restaurants).
- Interact with other appropriately (greet, introduce other, apologize, and getting attention).
Functional Math Skills
- Use a calculator, identify coins and bills, count money, read and write numerical value of amounts of money, calculate purchase amounts, add, subtract, and multiply numbers, and use a calendar.
Functional Reading Skills
- Improve reading comprehension skills, read personal date information, read calendar words, use reading in daily living situations, read and follow product instructions (recipes for cooking).
Occupational Preparation Skills
- Make appropriate/relevant comments, read a job application, write personal data, interviewing skills, responsibilities, and appropriate attire for interviews.
Science:
-Cooking lessons and Hands on science lessons.
Social Studies:
-Exploring the school, city, state, country, and world we live in
Health:
AISD Health lessons(9-12)

Students who do not adhere to any of the above policies and procedures will be dealt with in the following manner.
First time: Verbal warning.
Second time: Lunch with me and no socializing with peers.
Third Time: Contact parent or guardian
Fourth Time: Student will be referred to the assistant principal’s office
